Bickleigh on Exe CE Primary School

Our Eden Exhibits

TheDevon Eden Art Project.
Exhibition dates - February to August 2002.

This is the work of 69 Devon, Torbay and Plymouth primary, secondary and special schools.
The artwork in this exhibition was organised by Devon Curriculum Services (DOS) Art and Design
Advisers in conjunction with The Eden Project. It is based on the Eden Project philosophy of
sustainable development, plants, flowers and architecture. In total almost 5000 pupils from the age
of 5 to 18 have been involved in making drawings, paintings, collages and textile work for the calico banners and hexagonal paintings in the exhibition.
The school-based part of the project was the application of the ideals of the Eden Project and a celebration of the plants and architecture of the site. This included making and designing, in school, a 6ft by 2ft calico banner, two hexagonal paintings using acrylic paint and an illustrated journal. (See pictures)
Dr Jo Readman, Eden Project Education Director and Tony Smith, Devon Director of Education, Arts and Libraries officially opened the exhibition on Saturday 2 February 2002.
